Everyone Is Divine

Come celebrate the vibrant festival of Vaisakhi, which commemorates the founding of the Khalsa (the community of initiated Sikhs) and also marks when Sikhs received their distinct religious identity. Sikhism, the fifth largest religion in the world, recognizes the divine potential in every individual and challenges all social inequalities, including those based on class, caste, gender, and profession.

The Sikh Coalition, the largest Sikh civil rights organization in the United States, will present on the historical significance of Vaisakhi and how the founding of the Khalsa empowered the community. Whether it’s working to secure safer schools, prevent hate and discrimination, create equal employment opportunities, or empower local Sikh communities, the goal of the Sikh Coalition is working towards a world where Sikhs, and other religious minorities in America, may freely practice their faith without bias or discrimination.

The presentation will be followed by meditation led by Sharan Bir Kaur, a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor.

Sharan Bir Kaur Gill is a 500-hour IKYTA-certified Kundalini Yoga teacher, certified Naam Yoga instructor and a certified yoga therapist. Originally from India, she now resides and practices in New York City.
