Family Sundays

Luminous Layers

Sunday, 5.15.22
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Ages 3 and older with accompanying adults

Family Sundays are in person at the Rubin! Bring your family to the Rubin Museum’s new space, the Mandala Lab, for an afternoon of creativity and self-exploration that both kids and grown-ups will enjoy.

Preregistration is required for either the 1:00 PM or 2:00 PM time slots. The program is free for your family, and each ticket comes with free access to the Museum galleries. Each month we explore a new theme, with an art-making activity centered around that theme. A Museum educator gives a brief demonstration of the project, teaches the art-making techniques, and lets you explore ways to make the project your own.

May Family Sundays: Luminous Layers

What is something you think is powerful from the inside? How would you want to commemorate this? This month, the Rubin Museum of Art invites families to explore the exhibition, Shrine Room Projects, for an activity filled with illumination. Inspired by Palden Weinreb’s use of light, and how he uses it as a reminder to illustrate that the true power comes from within, families will be making their own translucent sculptures!
