September Sundays: Sugar & Spice
Break the rules and play with your food! Make sculptures out of sugar and spice, inspired by chalimidi, a sweet rice flour dish made during the Hindu festival Vinayaka Chaturthi. During this early September festival, chalimidi is offered to one of the most popular Hindu deities, Ganesha, the elephant-headed “Remover of Obstacles.” Try to spot him holding a bowl of sweets in the Museum’s galleries.
