Dream-Over
A Sleepover for Adults
Saturday, 12.7.19 – Sunday, 12.8.19
AN EXPERIENCE UNLIKE ANY OTHER
Dream under the compassionate and wakeful gaze of a hundred buddhas. Come in your slippers and pajamas and sleep over at the Rubin Museum beneath a traditional or contemporary artwork handpicked just for you.
Dream Among the Art
Each dreamer will be assigned a specific piece of traditional or contemporary art under which to sleep and dream. All dreamers must answer a Dreamlife Questionnaire, which will inform the pairing of their artwork. Dreamers will learn upon arrival at the Dream-Over which artwork has been selected for them.
Transform Your Understanding of Dreams
How do our dreams shape our future selves? This year, Khenpo Lama Pema Wangdak returns to the Rubin to discuss the significance of dreaming in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy.
Work with a Dream Gatherer
As dreamers wake, they will be approached by Dream Gatherers early in the morning and asked to verbalize their dreams while in a state between sleeping and waking.
Make Your Dreams Even Sweeter
Make the Rubin Museum the place of your dreams with these other Dream-Over activities:
- Dream discussion groups
- Bedtime stories
- Lullabies
- Midnight snack and light breakfast
“I have never felt so intimate with a piece of art in my life.”
—Dreamer
