Mindful Connections Online
For Visitors with Dementia and their Caregivers
Thursday, 8.10.23
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Mindful Connections Online is a free monthly program that offers engagement between adults living with dementia and works of art. Join Rubin Museum staff and teaching artists for an hour of close looking, discussion, and interpretation of traditional and contemporary Himalayan art.
This month’s program explores the theme of Sacred Geography with an in-depth look at two paintings from the Museum’s collection. Following the artwork presentation, certified mindfulness teacher Kimberly Brown will share her expert knowledge on the topic of Dealing Wisely with Difficulty, providing the resources and tools needed to meet difficulty with clarity and courage. Through meditation, mindfulness exercises, and compassion practices drawn from Buddhist traditions, you’ll learn techniques for how to better support yourself and others without feeling defeated or becoming overwhelmed.
