A dark-haired woman (Laura Elena Harring) wanders the streets of Los Angeles in a daze, unable to remember anything, after a car crash. She enters an apartment where Betty (Naomi Watts), a wholesome Midwestern girl with Hollywood dreams, discovers her. Together, the two attempt to solve the mystery of Rita’s true identity.
“Lynch’s wild ride through the unconscious is grounded in emotion… You can discover a lot about yourself by getting lost in Mulholland Drive. It grips you like a dream that won’t let go.” —Rolling Stone
Why did you select Mulholland Drive for the Cabaret Cinema: Soundtrack series?
“Mulholland Drive is in many ways a film about film and all of its fictions and illusions; the score and sound design explore these themes with some of the most disturbing sounds, drones, and musical sequences in cinema.”
—Dave Malloy
